James Talarico provides a case study in false teaching. He has been an attendee at a liberal mainline Presbyterian Church USA seminary; and holds bizarre, heretical views on abortion, gay marriage and transgenderism. His candidacy is an opportunity for the Christian church to repudiate his false teachings.
Interestingly, according to the polls, he leads both John Cornyn AND Ken Paxton slightly. There has been lingering concern that Texas is at risk of becoming a purple/ blue state because of immigration. But Paxton predicts voters will reject Talarico once they learn about his views:
I don’t think Texas will buy Talerico’s snake oil progressivism . He is a mental case .
His unapologetically liberal views and bizarre approach to Christian faith have made him controversial.
I think this election sheds light on the dysfunctional dynamics within the Texas Democratic Party — most of which are shared by the national party.
He’s definitely a turkey, Fred. I believe he will lose also. The keys are the immigrant vote and women’s vote. These are the two groups that could make him more competitive.
