Black SBC Churches Raise Yellow Flag Regarding Female Pastor Issue

The National African American Fellowship is a group of black churches within the Southern Baptist Convention. Readers will recall that the Convention passed a constitutional amendment earlier this month with nearly 75% of the vote ruling out female pastors in affiliated churches.

Now, the black churches are calling for “extended dialogue” on the matter of female pastors. The amendment must pass one more time in Indianapolis next year for it to become effective.

Opponents of the amendment had pointed out that many black churches have female pastors. Given the fact that the African-American community in the United States tends to have a disastrously matriarchal social structure, created by many generations of welfare entitlement, it would only make sense that matriarchal structure would carry over to their churches.

But the Southern Baptist Convention needs to act in a biblical manner. There is really not much to discuss, or about which to have “dialogue”. The Bible’s instructions are clear and unequivocal.

    1. I agree, Fred.

There was a very concerted effort within the SBC during recent years (especially within the North American Mission Board) to get more black pastors and black churches. Church plants and pastors were subsidized. This is what it has produced.
