It is widely understood that the city of Greensboro long has prided itself as a progressive city. Indeed, at one point, its LGBTQ city council member, Michelle Kennedy, was elevated to the role of the city’s housing director. Her reputation had been built as a homeless advocate. (She has since moved on to a position elsewhere).
Now, it turns out that a black woman formerly employed with the city under Ms. Kennedy has sued both the city and Ms. Kennedy for racial discrimination.
How could that be? Our lovely progressive city? Our LGBTQ/ homeless advocate/ council member-turned-housing director? How could such paragons of progressive/ socialist virtue be accused of such an offense as discrimination?
And let’s remember. The city’s machine politics is under the control of a couple of African-American PAC’s. Again, how could the city be accused of racial discrimination under such circumstances?
It must be “implicit bias“. 🙂
