  1. Poor Vance. Trying to put a positive aura on disaster. This year’s federal deficit is heading toward 8% of GDP!!!! During a non-recession year! The Treasury projects it will borrow $739 billion in the present quarter alone.

GDP in the last quarter grew 1.5% (annual basis). The US Empire/Vampire is in a debt/death spiral. Bidens’ last 2 years borrowed on the order of 7% of GDP and the Republicans increased that their 1st year. This 2nd year the spending is much worse because of Bibi’s Bitch’s war.

Debt growing 8%. GDP growing 1.5% “Growing our way out of it” is just something they say. We live in a time when whatever Officialdom says prima facie should be assumed a lie.

    1. Unfortunately true, J. Sobran. We get somewhat of a reprieve from mass deficit spending leading to inflation because of the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency. I think Bessent has engaged in some monetary manipulations to help manage the situation. But I somehow doubt we can escape the consequences forever of massive deficit spending and enormous debt.

A very large portion of federal revenue goes to pay interest on the debt; and that number will only grow unless we fix this.

      1. Bessent is borrowing even more short-term bonds than he needs to fund the additional borrowing ($739 billion this quarter) so that he can buy long-term debt (the interest rate of which has gone up since Trump started his disastrous war) to try to manipulate that prominent rate downward. It is like using your credit card to pay your mortgage. And it will work about that well.

“A very large portion of federal revenue goes to pay interest on the debt; and that number will only grow unless we fix this.” Fix it? You are asking organized crime to quit doing crime? Dream on, Triad.

        1. J. Sobran, they won’t act until and unless there is a crisis. And at that point, they are likely to implement more socialism to try to fix it– because that is the way these people tend to act.
