THE USA WAS FOR SURE FOUNDED AND SHAPED BY CHRISTAIN TRUTH: MORALLY, CULTURALLY AND POLITICALLY.
There is too much there, Fred, to deny that the influence was very strong.
If so, it was wiped out by the re-founding as the US Empire by WWII. Killing 10s of millions of people to make the world safe for Communism…for eastern Europe and China to suffer Communist slavery and millions of people to be murdered. Killing 10 times as many Japanese civilians as were killed in the Battle of Britain in the horrific US fire-bombings of Tokyo and the 2 atomic bombings of cities (not military targets) in 1945 doesn’t seem all that Christian. And since WWII, the US Empire has started a majority of the wars.
Vietnam, Iraq I, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq II, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Syrian “civil war” to install an Al Qaeda dictator, funding the Gazan genocide, now Iran. Brown Univ. documents a million CIVILIANS were killed in just Afghanistan and Iraq. How many American lives taken or ruined by those wars of choice! Trillions taken from US taxpayers and flushed down the toilet. FOR NOTHING! Are there any Christian purposes for which you as an American would be willing to give your life in any of those countries–countries in the opposite hemisphere from the one in which we live?
The American Founding was a wonderful unique event, but it bears little relevance to oligarchy we live in. There is nothing Christian about Leviathan–the Swamp is a veritable fountain of deceit and the center of thievery–today.
Triad, I’m too cynical and sardonic for your excellent site. I’m respectfully resigning.
Please don’t resign, J. Sobran. I appreciate your comments here.
I agree that the long trajectory of our voluntary foreign involvements over the last century, when thoroughly examined, can’t be justified. We can quibble about individual instances, but the overall pattern does not suggest a Christian just war approach. And I agree that we have an oligarchy of large donors; and that the swamp is demonic.
We live in a fallen world. The Christian influence on the founding has benefited us in various ways; but various forces have chipped away at that influence ever since.
