Carolina Journal reports that the Senate Leadership Fund plans to invest $71 million in the campaign of Michael Whatley.
What is the Senate Leadership Fund? It is a PAC that the Republican Senate leadership uses to elect candidates it would prefer.
Given this hefty pledged contribution, it is pretty clear John Thune wants Michael Whatley to be elected.
What can we infer about Michael Whatley by virtue of this endorsement? Remember, he is mostly a blank slate and has never held elective office.
I think we can assume Thune thinks Whatley will help him fail to deliver results for the party’s conservative base. That is the objective of Thune’s leadership, after all.
Let’s hope Whatley proves me wrong.
Thune’s endorsement of Whatley is suggestive of him being a slug like Tillis (whom he endorsed).
Somebody (not Whatley) produced a pretty good ad highlighting Cooper’s letting out the murderers and rapist during the Faucian dystopia to commit more crimes. They will do well to run it a lot. The corrupt pipeline deal Cooper was involved in ought to be translatable to an ad that voters can understand too.
Whatley should go pretty negative. Because nobody is going to believe those routine Republican lies about cutting spending, cleaning up the Swamp, and ending forever wars. As a life-long political functionary who has never spoken up about an issue, it is likely Whatley stands for nothing. But still probably better than a lying Democrat (forgive the redundancy).

Yes by all means , go negative. There is an abundance of Cooper mistakes and maleficence to swat him with.
And it should be pointed out, Fred, that the corrupt media in our region covered up for Cooper for years; so it is necessary to educate the public, the vast majority of whom have no way of knowing about how bad Cooper really is.
