Readers will recall that the superintendent of public schools in Chapel Hill openly defied state legislators over library materials. Now, we learn that the public schools in Cabarrus County are allowing trans males in female bathrooms. Trump’s Department of Education is investigating.
One might expect this type of behavior from school leaders in Chapel Hill. However, Cabarrus County historically was small town/ rural outside Charlotte with Concord as its main hub. One would expect it to be more conservative.
However, Charlotte has overtaken it. I recall a friend from Charlotte asserting that the politics in Cabarrus County and Concord have become infected with some of the same mess we see in larger cities like Charlotte. Sometimes, it seems there is little refuge from it.
It is good that Trump’s people are willing to challenge units of local government over these matters. That will change, of course, as soon as the socialists regain power.
When I did my second career for 8 years ( 1990- 1998 ) with the NC Dept. of Revenue Drug Tax Unit, Cabarrus County was part of my territory. I think I had a good feeling for that county’s attitude about social issues. They were fairly conservative , in fact Trump carried that jurisdiction in 2016 and 2024.
I am pleased to hear that the Feds are taking on these scofflaw school administrators.
Unfortunately, Fred, things change over time. I somehow doubt Cabarrus is what it used to be.
