Colorado’s Move Against Parents: What Will The Churches Do?

Some readers might be aware that the state of Colorado is in the process of passing legislation that would potentially take kids away from parents if they refuse to affirm the “gender identity” of their children.

This is a pretty big deal. One would think the church should speak out.

It turns out that a network of small churches in the state has begun to unite to oppose this effort. But the larger evangelical churches have made the decision to refrain from getting involved.

Within Southern Baptist circles, parallel conservative organizations such as the Danbury Institute and the Center for Baptist Leadership have taken a stand. But the Convention itself– and its Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission– have been dormant.

When churches and denominations refuse to speak out on issues of importance, they are ceding vital territory to the cultural Marxist left. They are failing to love their neighbor. They are refusing to be “salt and light”. They are failing to use the talents God has granted them. They are refusing to translate their faith into good works. They are failing to be doers of God’s word.

And they will be held accountable in the final judgment:

Proverbs 24: 11-12 (NKJV)

11 Deliver those who are drawn toward death,
And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.
12 If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”
Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?
And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?
