Transgender Surgery 101

This young surgeon from Texas has exhibited huge amounts of courage. I hope he is somehow rewarded for the stands he has taken:

  1. Courageous of this Doctor to speak out against these mutilating surgeries. There has to be some intervention before a child undergoes these life changing procedures.

    1. It’s pretty horrifying, Fred. I agree there needs to be a way to put a stop to this.

This guy reported what was going on at the Children’s Hospital in Texas and got into trouble because of it. Now, he is testifying before Congress.

  2. Was in a small group conversation (OK, cigar lounge chit-chat) with a child psychologist today, who opined that the suicide of a transgender patient in a hospital (real case, apparently) was caused by parents who refused to “accept” the child “for what he was” and were therefore culpable.
I bit my tongue, but my take is that the actual culpability lies in refusing to provide mental health treatment for a mentally ill child, not refusing to participate in and exacerbate a fantasy caused by that mental illness.
Parents who sanction genital mutilation are committing child abuse, the same as if they beat the kid to pieces.

  3. “If you’re 18 and you think you’re another gender, you’re mentally ill.
If you’re 8 and you think you’re another gender, your mother is mentally ill.”
