Progressivism in North Carolina: Cause and Effect

A recent Carolina Journal article illustrates what is happening to the state of North Carolina.

It turns out that the democratic socialists in North Carolina secure 70 percent of their fundraising dollars from out-of-state donors. I have pointed out before that these often turn out to be Jewish megadonors from places like New York and California.

That is part of the reason we get governors and attorneys general like Josh Stein, Roy Cooper and Jeff Jackson. A state that usually votes Republican at the national level cannot elect Republicans to the most important statewide offices.

Another contributing factor is that the Republicans’ fundraising in North Carolina is heavily skewed to the General Assembly. The theory is that the state legislature is stronger in North Carolina than the governor.

However, with this philosophy, we have gotten Medicaid expansion; legal abortion through the first trimester; and the awful Roy Cooper/ Mandy Cohen approach to Covid that the entire state had to endure. The Republicans are losing on the biggest issues.

Maybe we ought to ban out-of-state fundraising in North Carolina elections.

  1. I suspect you’d run into 1st Amendment objections.

There is also the fact of Dems being the party of the rich; they have more money. And through vehicles like USAID & DoJ shakedowns of corporations, they have a lot of taxpayer money they shouldn’t have.
