It was reported a couple of days ago that the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals has punted on the NC Supreme Court race between Republican Jefferson Griffin and democratic socialist Allison Riggs– at least for now.
It wants the NC Supreme Court to rule on the case regarding issues of state law.
But here is the catch. It reserves the right to rule on the case later if federal constitutional issues arise. I interpret this ruling as coded messaging that Riggs will be granted free rein to drag the case out in federal court in the event the NC Supreme Court invalidates her apparent victory. Riggs has already indicated that she plans to do so.
The take home lesson? This may not be resolved anytime soon.
Well for starters, I am confident will find for Griffin. As you suggest this will drag on for a long time.
