There was apparently a Pride Festival in downtown Greensboro this past weekend. We are now subjected, in various places, to Pride Month, Pride Week and Pride Festivals. It is never enough.
What is being recognized? Sinfulness and debauchery. It is reported that 50,000 flocked to the Pride Festival last year.
Of course, the local mainstream media approvingly reported about the Festival, almost in a celebratory tone. This includes the News and Record and WFMY-2.
What are the alternative ways to view the festival?
- Pointing out that children are brought to the event and exposed to things to which they should not be exposed
- Recognizing that the behaviors and identities the festival highlights should be regretted, not celebrated
- Understanding that confessing sin to God and repentance are proper responses, not seeking affirmation for sin
Our common lot as human beings is our struggle with sin of various types. Various forces in our society have opposed biblical teaching or attempted to reinterpret it away. The corrupt media plays a huge part in that process. But here in Greensboro, with its progressive/ socialist political culture and social environment, all too many are eager to jump aboard with the new “norms” that have been established.
Ultimately, the people this festival celebrates are poorly served. Their eternal souls are what should primarily concern everyone.
Pray for them
Indeed, Fred. There are real human costs when society collectively goes crazy…
