Mark Robinson’s Gubernatorial Campaign At A Crossroads

GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson has faced a relentless barrage of negative television advertising from Josh Stein and his out-of-state donors. These ads have concentrated mostly on his past statements on abortion. The media/left complex also has begun concentrating on issues related to his wife’s businesses.

In response, Robinson adopted the official Raleigh Republican party line regarding abortion– i.e., that legal abortion is acceptable up to the 12th week of pregnancy. It is tragic that he felt he had to take this position.

Recent polling suggests his campaign is “on the ropes”. Carolina Journal and the News and Record have details.

If he wants to win, Robinson needs to go on the attack. How can he do this?

First, he can seize on the fact that Josh Stein wants our daughters and granddaughters to be dressing and showering and entering rest rooms with biological males in our schools. North Carolina, after all, was the only southern state that chose not to defy Biden’s new rules for public schools. Josh Stein specifically chose to go along with Biden’s mandates, and he ought to be held accountable for that. An issue like this ought to be a “slam dunk” for Robinson.

Second, he needs to focus attention on Stein’s extreme open borders/ immigration stance and the fact that he sued the Trump Administration on at least a couple of occasions over immigration issues.

Third, he needs to raise the fact that Stein assisted Governor Cooper and Mandy Cohen with their Covid lockdown orders. The people of North Carolina need to understand that he was complicit when our constitutional rights were taken away, and is thereby a totalitarian.

Fourth, he needs to inform the public that Stein broke the law when he repeatedly refused to do his job. Recall that Raleigh Republican leaders repeatedly had to hire their own counsel to defend in court the laws they had passed.

Robinson needs to hammer away vociferously on these issues. Stein would be very bad news for North Carolina, and needs to be defeated. There is still time, but Robinson faces major challenges.
