I learned over the weekend that I have a young, distant cousin living near the Jersey shore who has attracted a huge following on Instagram. She apparently has 1.5 million followers. Her method is to produce two-minute videos set to music. The videos depict her preparing food at the restaurant […]

Stein Gets One Right
The old saying is that even a stopped clock is right twice a day. When Governor Josh Stein came out in favor of withdrawing tax breaks for data centers, that immediately came to mind. These data centers tend to employ relatively few people. With the advent of AI, they consume […]
Antidote To The Former Boy Scouts
The video below includes another video nestled within it in which Pete Hedgseth describes in vivid detail what happened to the Boy Scouts. I had my own two sons in the scouts years ago. I hope Republicans in the General Assembly resist, but I don’t have high […]
“A Great Awakening”
I had the opportunity to see the movie, “A Great Awakening”, this past weekend. We had posted here trailers for this film previously. In a nutshell, go see it. It is playing at local theaters, but I don’t know how long it will run. The movie chronicles the life of […]
The Church’s Response To Covid-19 Restrictions
The Christian church was knocked off balance when Covid struck six years ago. Overall, much of the church was confused and did not know how to respond when governmental authorities throughout the country shut down church services. Of course, that happened here in North Carolina because of former Governor Roy […]
Patrick Henry
I learned a lot from this video. His life consists of more than a single speech. (I used to walk by the Old St. John’s Church— still an active Episcopal congregation– on the way to medical school every morning, four decades ago):
