Call me an optimist but I really believe we have men and women in our military who are the finest in the world. It is true that the armed forces have not been able to meet recruiting quotas , no doubt, for some of the reasons you state. This must change and I am convinced that it will come 2025.
In 1953 I enlisted in the US Navy at age 17. The war in Korea was going on. It was so much of a different time. Sadly things have gotten worse in lots of ways.
In particular, Fred, the number of white recruits has declined sharply. Biden has done a great job of driving them away.
I appreciate your sacrifices, Fred, that you made as a young man to serve.
