It is House Bill 805.
According to the NC Values Coalition, it is doing these things:
- Defining male and female in state law based on biology—not ideology.
- Protecting girls’ sleeping quarters in K–12 schools.
- Safeguarding women and children from sexual exploitation online.
- Preventing taxpayer dollars from funding harmful sex-transition procedures.
- Giving victims of gender transition harm 10 years to pursue justice in court.
- Empowering parents with religious opt-outs and access to school library catalogs.
It is another effort to recoup the losses when the GOP ran away from House Bill 2– the “bathroom bill”– nine years ago. State Republicans are finally doing better on this issue after having seen similar measures pass in other states without major disruption.
Since the Senate changed the original House bill, the House must now vote to concur before sending the bill to the governor for signature.
Kudos to the General Assembly (-:
Yes, they did a good job getting this passed, Fred. Good news…
