Stabbing In Broad Daylight At Center City Park, Greensboro

This story has not received huge amounts of attention, but it should.

On Saturday at 2:30 PM, someone was stabbed at Center City Park in downtown Greensboro.

It should be noted that the idea of Center City Park was introduced to us a couple of decades ago as a location that would turn out to be the crown jewel of downtown. It would be privately run so that a higher degree of security could be maintained.

What developed over time is a park that feels objectively unsafe.

The premise that a stabbing would occur there in broad daylight is a clarion indicator that something is terribly wrong. It is a manifestation of a city government that refuses to prioritize law enforcement, and insist upon law and order. The approach to policing and criminal justice is determined by local political norms that are entirely corrupt.

And we thus have an unsafe downtown.
