  1. Nozick’s thought experiment provides excellent perspective. The US Empire is far from free–you have to jump through thousands of govt-imposed hoops to be allowed to sell a loaf of bread–but it could be worse. What I resent most is having my money taken from me (via threat of force) to pay for all the killing of innocent people in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.

    1. I think, J. Sobran, we are conditioned to accept all of these infringements on liberty because of gradualism. It happened in bits and pieces over a period of time. The Tenth Amendment was put in place to prevent this, but we know how that worked out.

    1. I agree with regard to my own life, Fred, although I am concerned about what younger people will be facing– and ARE facing– as they proceed through life’s stages and challenges interacting with the various levels of government.
