We all recall the brutal, barbaric killing of the young woman on Charlotte’s light rail train.
The state auditor has released a report documenting that the Charlotte mass transit system has not consistently been collecting fares from riders; and has thereby shifted the costs of the system to taxpayers.
It became widely known in Charlotte that you did not have to pay the fare on the light rail system. That led bad actors like the murderer to make the trains their home. The murder that occurred was preventable if the city of Charlotte had been doing its job and acting responsibly.
The bigger government gets, the less well it does the functions for which it was created to begin with.
That is definitely a truism, J. Sobran. I saw yesterday an article that suggested some parts of the more affluent southern part of Charlotte had been looking at seceding from the city because they are not getting services commensurate with what they pay in taxes. We need to see these blue cities broken up into pieces.
