The setting was a strip shopping center on Gate City Boulevard (formerly High Point Rd.). There were no fatalities reported. Some of those involved were minors.
The mayor says the incident has “shaken the community”.
These types of incidents, however, have historically not been enough to convince our local elected officials to insist upon aggressive, effective methods of crime control. They have instead resorted to “touchy-feely” programs that will not antagonize those nefarioius forces locally that undermine the police.
Our new city council is going to be even less inclined to correct that situation.
And the cycle goes round and round.
This a blight on Greensboro’s record. The community is shaken by it. I think the Chief of Police has taken on this violence responsibly.
They forced the banquet hall to close down, Fred. I am not sure I understand what their culpability was.
