I rather imagine that we are on the edge of a ” Brave New World ” .
I agree, Fred. I hope his optimistic view becomes reality. According to his analysis, more women would be locked out because of their choice of college majors. That might be a good thing, because they might be more amenable to staying home and raising kids.
Stonge is always worth listening to. AI is going to be much more expensive and unprofitable than those showering it with their speculative investment money presently imagine.
We need to start saying no to AI. Isn’t customer service crappy enough already?
I have to admit, J. Sobran, that the debate over AI is a bit difficult for me to grasp. It’s difficult to foretell the future sometimes. But there is no question it is already being used and adopted heavily in various spheres. Profit? Massive job displacement? I don’t know, but I suspect you could be right that the investment hype might be overblown. Many massive gambles are being made.
