I am posting here a couple of interesting videos. Raymond Ibrahim explores the fact that formerly Christian societies in northern Africa, France, southern Italy, Turkey and Syria were taken over by Muslims many centuries ago. He discusses the concept of “doormat Christianity”– i.e., the tendency to allow Islamic invasion. In the second video, he raises the question as to whether this is God’s judgment on western nations:
Those were excellent videos. They reminded me of trips I made to Spain and Portugal. A visit to the Alhambra in Granada is awesome. ( if you ever visit Granada be sure and read Washington Irving’s Alhambra prior to departing )
In 1492 the ” Reconquista ” was complete , having driven the moors back to Africa. In fact it was part of the Crusades.. That shows that Christians can bring about change using armed conflict and not being passive.
Fred, I think the Crusades have gotten a bad rap. If, in fact, the Catholics had been MORE successful restraining the spread of Islam, we would probably have less problems today.
