A case the US Supreme Court is handling could potentially eliminate the requirement for racial considerations to rule the creation of legislative districts. That is a big issue in North Carolina where the socialists have dishonorably exploited the Voting Rights Act to their advantage for many years.
Eliminating this bugaboo would be helpful to Republicans. They had unfortunately voted to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act repeatedly, to their own detriment.
In the past, it was necessary to create majority-minority districts. Then, it suddenly became illegal to do so. It all depended on what the perception of self-interest was at the time on the part of the socialists and their accomplices in the judiciary:
