Charlotte Light Rail Murder Exposes NC Politicians

Now, it has become clear that former Governor Roy Cooper and Governor Josh Stein both promoted “racial equity” policies in the criminal justice system.

The killer in Charlotte had 14 prior arrests. The idea that these folks with numerous prior arrests could be circulating among us is a huge problem.

Independent journalist Stephen Horn is reporting that there are nearly 800 folks in Wake County with a criminal history of at least 14 arrests. I expect we likely have commensurate numbers here in Guilford County.

In any event, the socialists like Cooper and Stein specialize in soft-on-crime policies. They believe in giving the devil a foothold by sowing disorder. That explains why we have so much crime– and so many murders– in our urban centers.

But the Republicans over the last 10-15 years advocated and passed bills– both in Washington and in Raleigh– to empty our prisons. This was done to purchase black votes and save money on incarcerations. These “jail break” approaches are wrongheaded also.

Combine that with court decisions that make it very difficult to institutionalize the mentally ill; and a judicial/ prosecutorial system that creates revolving door justice.

Our political and criminal justice systems are failing the citizens of North Carolina.

  1. Unless the courts and prosecutors start doing their jobs, the crime problem will continue to rise, unabated.
