Charlotte, NC Bishop Wants Private Schools To Be Able To Renege On Parents

Parents who send their kids to private schools and Christian schools make an extra investment of time and effort. There can be considerable cost. But there are often also additional logistical issues getting kids to and from school because taxpayer-provided school buses are not part of the deal.

Moreover, parents do the best they can researching the schools and making a decision based on what the school represents itself to be. But the point is that sacrifice is involved. Parents want to do what they perceive is best for their kids.

The school’s representation regarding itself– when purchased by the parent– represents an implied contract.

But what if the school is a moving target? What if it radically changes its approaches midstream?

Does the parent have any recourse?

This became an issue in Charlotte, NC over the last couple of years. Parents had a grievance against the leadership of Charlotte Latin School that suddenly decided to “go woke”. Their kids were expelled, and the parents sued in response. Remain mindful this is not a Christian or Catholic school.

The Catholic Bishop in Charlotte got involved. He sided with Charlotte Latin School. He obviously wanted to preserve his prerogatives to run his own diocesan schools as he sees fit in the event parents might disagree. But in the process, he undermined the legitimate concerns parents might have.

This particular bishop was granted his authority under Pope Francis.

The corruption of the major denominations continues unrestrained. It is unbelievable that a Catholic Bishop would defend a woke private school.

    1. This is pretty astonishing, Fred. He might justify this by considering the legal implications that might limit his ability to do what he sees fit with the schools under his authority, and the problems that a favorable ruling for the parents would create for him. By choosing this case, he aligns with a school that is pushing LGBT propaganda in its curriculum. Very disappointing.
