BTW, I watched his entire speech:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCOsgfINdKg&t=1s
Vance torched Europe in a manner they’ve never heard before.
“I believe that dismissing people, dismissing their concerns, or, worse yet, shutting down media, shutting down elections, or shutting people out of the political process, protects nothing. In fact, it is the most surefire way to destroy democracy.”
Of course they hated his speech. Vance criticized America’s European allies for allowing mass migration, eroding free speech, ignoring religious freedom, and overturning elections in the name of “defending democracy”
Vance told those gathered in Munich you cannot win a democratic mandate by censoring your opponents or putting them in jail,” Vance said. “Whether that’s the leader of the opposition, a humble Christian praying in her own home, or a journalist trying to report the news.”
“I believe that dismissing people, dismissing their concerns, or, worse yet, shutting down media, shutting down elections, or shutting people out of the political process, protects nothing. In fact, it is the most surefire way to destroy democracy.”
It really was an amazing speech, Fred. It was very timely and appropriate because the Europeans are behaving more like the Nazi’s or the communists than they are behaving as if they are part of the western world. The problem is that we had been also. It raises the question as to what the basis of NATO truly is at this point. During the first half of its history, it was to protect against communist aggression. There really is no basis now– because the communists no longer pose a military threat to Europe; and because the West is tearing down its own heritage and has turned neo-Marxist.
