This Republican Senator from Louisiana– Bill Cassidy– is a physician. He essentially is stating that RFK Jr. gave him a veto over Trump’s policies regarding vaccines in exchange for his vote in favor of confirmation. While he mouths concerns over health, he glosses over the fact that the CDC’s recommended vaccine schedule is used by the states to COMPEL vaccination for school attendance thereby undercutting the ethical practice of informed consent– even for vaccines to prevent conditions that are NOT contracted in the school setting or that typically do NOT lead to death or major disability:
Senator Bill Cassidy just went to the senate floor to disclose the deals he made in exchange for a yes vote on RFK Jr.

Read below and let me know if it was worth it.
-RFK Jr will have a close working relationship with Cassidy with multiple meetings a month.

I don’t see any rabid opposition to RFK Jr in the upcoming floor vote. Furthermore some drastic staff changes need to be made at CDC. I don’t see how this deal will obstruct overhauling CDC. I hope this deal doesn’t include a green light for the COVID vaccine otherwise I don’t have a problem with the 2025 recommended immunizations for Birth Through 6 .
Fred, if Cassidy’s representation of the agreement is accurate, and if RFK, Jr. adheres to it, then it would definitely hinder what RFK, Jr. needs to do within the department.
I think Louisiana voters need to find a replacement for Cassidy. He is an establishment hack.
Triad, I agree with you about Cassidy. I’m hoping that this agreement does not tie RFK’s hands. RFK isn’t just doing this to pad his resume, and I’ve got to feel like he thinks Cassidy honest and persuadable by properly designed studies. Studies he can authorize.
The medical industrial complex is so corrupt and in need of drastic action. What Cassidy said is disheartening, but I trust RFK to make only the compromises that will allow him to fix many problems.
Healey, I hope it all works out. We shall see. But an agreement of this type is pretty mind-boggling.
