Anyone who depends on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC or the daily newspaper for news and information is making a terrible mistake. The mainstream media now senses that their moment has passed:

Fred, I read today that Rob Reiner checked himself into a facility. Quite a video! Thanks…
Quite possibly the greatest political celebration video ever, Fred!
Peanut the squirrel would be soooo proud!
Wouldn’t bother me if the entire faux “news media” despaired themselves right out of existence.
Would be among the best things that can happen, Jaycee. Happy thanksgiving!
Even though I personally have qualms about this suggestion from a 1st Amendment perspective, I suggest that Trump by executive order outlaw Big Pharma/drug ads (on the basis of their constituting bribery of the networks, but also noting only 1 other country in the world allows it). That would revolutionize and shrink regime media more powerfully than any other action. The pay cuts to those millionaire propagandist David Muir types would be a bucket of cold water in the face.
Rucker is right about everything, including Fox.
Healey, I think many doctors detest these ads because they don’t present the entire range of considerations we use when we choose one drug over another. They have become almost self-parodic because the visual dramatizations and productions and listing of side effects are predictable. I, too, would like these ads to go away.
Did the founders truly mean that freedom of speech extends to corporations?
Happy thanksgiving, Healey!
Thanks, TC. But to be clear, I’m not suggesting this Executive order because the ads are bad, although I relate to what you are saying. It is because media is placed in a chokehold by BigPharma money. No one is allowed to ask a question about CDC lies, about vaccine side effects, or Pharma sins period in regime media. Medical-industrial-complex orthodoxy is the only thing allowed; BigPharma advertising is a lynchpin of medical fascism. Ironically, outlawing BigPharma money in media would promote free speech. As well as making the propagandist who people regime media less stinking rich.
Oh, I agree, Healey. The same principle applies for hospital system advertising in local newspapers. At this point, these have became almost the sole source of advertising dollars for local papers, so the daily newspaper cannot report objectively about the hospital systems.
What you are describing is a real problem. And it became a crushing reality during Covid.
Indeed, TC. Another important example is that no journalist can ask about what drugs had been consumed by mass shooters or assassins. SSRIs, amphetamines, other psychotropic drugs, & even long-term high-potency marijuana are important factors in most of these I suspect.
Not being able to ask questions is a formula not solving problems, for diminishing a civilization.
Great observations, Healey. Sounds like a conspiracy of silence– doesn’t it?
