The Rhino Times had an article yesterday that outlines how 2023 was the “year of massive spending” for our county government in Guilford County.
And today, the News and Record reports that the county plans to create 27 new positions for social workers, thus assuring the massive spending increases will continue.
Democrats took control of the Board of County Commissioners with the 2020 election; and it has been downhill ever since. The Republicans had done a better job of controlling spending that the socialists have overall even though the GOP commissioners had also engaged in some splurges. The Republicans do not really seem to have a path at this point to take control once again of the county board.
We can therefore expect profligate spending and tax increases to continue.
This news only reminds me of how much I don’t miss Guilford County.
Happy in Virginia (-:
Yes, Fred. Government in Guilford County and Greensboro truly stinks. And it is worse than it was decades ago when we first had arrived.
