Brent Leatherwood has submitted his resignation as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. Many messengers at the Convention’s annual meeting last month voted to eliminate the Commission because of his leadership. Leatherwood tilted left on some important issues; and partnered with George Soros’ organization on […]

John MacArthur On The Gospel Coalition
His response suggests we need to adopt a discerning attitude toward some organizations and institutions that have arisen during recent years, or that have taken a wrong turn. I would beware any minister who cites the Gospel Coalition or speaks of it in a positive fashion: John MacArthur says "The […]
Women In The Church
This guy– Ben Mandrell– leads Lifeway for the Southern Baptist Convention; and has been called to be the senior pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Tennessee. That is the church where Adrian Rogers was senior pastor for many decades. He describes an arrangement that intentionally subverts the biblical model for […]
Shooting Down The Rightful Speaker
This is an incident that occurred during the PCA’s annual meeting. The speaker was attempting to speak in opposition to a race-based effort that was taking place. The meeting chairman– a reasonably well-known pastor of a large PCA church outside of Charlotte– did everything he could to prevent the speaker […]
When More Progressive Leadership Takes Over Conservative Churches, Part 2
Several days ago, I posted excerpts from an article by Jon Harris discussing the takeover and transformation of formerly conservative churches. I have admired Harris’ work. This young man is a Southeastern Seminary graduate who exhibits wisdom and insight far beyond his years. He now has an article at The […]
When More Progressive Leadership Takes Over Conservative Churches
Jon Harris has a great article at American Reformer that discusses the phenomenon of progressive forces within the Southern Baptist Convention taking over conservative churches and remaking them. He cites certain high profile examples; but this doubtless has occurred in various ways at other churches nationwide and here in North […]
Local Religious Left Protests Illegal Immigration Enforcement
The News and Record has a big article about a small protest in downtown Greensboro in which several liberal/ progressive/ socialist clergy participated. Among those represented were a Lutheran pastor; a female Unitarian minister; and also a minister from a local black church. I wonder what their theology is– if […]
Watch This Interaction
When Russell Moore was a leader within the Southern Baptist Convention, a court action was supported to enable an Islamic mosque to be built. When he was asked about this at the annual meeting by a concerned pastor, he responded. Check out his faulty reasoning, and the shoddy manner he […]
Full Interview With Willy Rice on The SBC
I had posted a short clip from this interview a couple of days ago. Willy Rice is pastor of a large Southern Baptist Church in Florida with multiple campuses. The interview covers the important topics to be discussed at the annual convention in a couple of weeks including financial transparency, […]
A Call To Eliminate The ERLC
HT: The Dissenter Florida pastor @WillyRice says the ERLC has lost the confidence of Southern Baptists. “We need to have some radical changes. The house is on fire. Instead, we’re treated to what is pretty pedestrian PR campaign. So I really do think we have to act.” pic.twitter.com/21anbLxkMv — Center […]
