He is absolutely correct to adopt something reasonably consistent with the European standards because their approach to vaccines has been much more rational and less corrupt than the American standards.
But it would even be better to advise that the states should adopt an informed consent approach whereby vaccines are recommended but not compelled. Informed consent is one of the hallmarks of public health ethics.
The federal government ought not even be involved in the business of setting vaccine schedules. This is an unconstitutional federal activity that rightfully should be performed at the state level. But Trump in this case is helping to clean up the mess that had been created previously.
The corrupt American Academy of Pediatrics is already beginning to howl. Certain establishment Republicans in the US Senate are likely to be very unhappy. I expect lawsuits will be forthcoming.
Triad, I agree with your every syllable. Informed consent should especially be emphasized. Presently it seems to be the opposite is practiced. Even the physicians don’t know that NONE of the childhood vaccines had a PLACEBO-CONTROLLED study of sufficient size and length to conclude they are either safe or effective.
Things have definitely gone amuck, J. Sobran, with the number on the required vaccine schedule for school entry, and the flimsy pretext upon which many of these vaccines were placed on the schedule. Kids have paid the price– sometimes dearly.
