Recess Appointments

You don’t expect this when your own party controls the Senate:

  1. “The US Senate is dishonest,” he says. Heck, to pretend you are not in recess when you are in recess is dishonest. Denying an elected president his nominees–150 remain in limbo–2 years into his term is remarkably malicious. Somebody benefits; Thune is the decision maker. If Trump were America First rather than being consumed with being a warmonger, he’d have done something about it.

Triad, on a daily basis you present evidence that we are ruled by a corrupt, cancerous organism. It’s your fault if I’m a broken record. 😉

    1. I agree, J. Sobran, that this is dishonest and malicious on the part of Thune and his crowd. What can Trump do about it? Raise a huge public stink; remove certain types of access and prerogatives dealing with federal agencies and the White House; and perhaps even prosecute them when there is evidence of corruption (as has been McConnell’s case). Obviously, those things have not happened. But to take those steps carries definite risks.

      1. What would LBJ do? What did Obama do? A man who has the power to murder thousands of people in the Middle East has no power over the machinations of DC? No incentives, no penalties, no influence through donors?

Stephen Miller would think of something if Trump’s priorities were not in other countries in the opposite hemisphere from the one we live in.

  2. This pro-forma session of the Senate is outrageous. Boyle is right, they are giving Trump the middle finger salute. Is Thune the guilty party here? What is motivating this rebellion? Surely not TDS!

    1. I think it is inevitable that Thune is the guilty party, but he obviously has others GOP establishment senators who are participating with him in this charade. I think what motivates them is that they want to use the “advise and consent” clause to keep things within certain boundaries they have preconceived. They want to stop someone like Matt Gaetz from getting appointed without their ability to stop it. Their influence has probably caused Trump to make some bad appointments.

They still oppose several key parts of the agenda on which Trump ran in 2016 and 2024.
