Staten Island from what I have heard is a bulwark of conservativism in rather deep blue NYC . I heard that Trump has weighed in on this issue.

Yes, Staten Island is more conservative than the rest of the city. I am proud that folks there came through on this issue, at least preliminarily.
It should be noted that Staten Island is one prominent target of someone like Mamdani because it is more white than the rest of the city, and it has more single family homes.
