Stein’s Veto Of The Homeless Bill

We had written here previously about a bill passed by the General Assembly designed to address the problem of homeless individuals congregating in center city areas and sleeping where businesses try to function and citizens need to feel safe. It does this by forbidding that cities allow this activity; and by holding responsible those parties that facilitate it.

It is very important for cities to maintain civic order. In fact, that is their most critical function. But order is non-existent when homeless individuals harass citizens or create conditions that undermine public safety.

Governor Josh Stein just vetoed that bill. An override is expected, and would be welcome.

This is a reflection of Stein’s worldview of cultural Marxism that allows societies to deteriorate in order to foster conditions for transformation.

This is precisely the type of issue that Republicans could use against Stein when he runs for re-election. Of course, they are not sufficiently smart or resourceful or fierce to do that effectively.

  1. Well the override of Stein’s veto is expected. How sad it is to see the NC Governor accept this effort to support this type of Cultural Marxism.

    1. This is a problem, Fred, that needs to be dealt with. I’m glad the General Assembly took action. The cities need to meet their responsibilities. As you know, we have a big problem in Greensboro.

What we should do to assist the homeless– and we should– is a separate discussion.
