SCOTUS Birthright Citizenship

The consensus seems to be that today’s oral argument did not go well for those of us who do not want birthright citizenship for the children of illegals. The justices need to focus on the original meaning of the 14th Amendment; but it is not clear that they will do so. If they rule the wrong way, we have a mess on our hands:

  1. In US courts, everything is a crap shoot. Derek Chauvin rots his life away in prison for being present at St. George Floyd’s drug overdose.

    1. This is unfortunately true, J. Sobran. Unfortunately, if Trump loses this case, it will likely be because of the justices he nominated. The selection process was flawed. You know from the outset how the three socialist justices are going to rule.

      1. You think? Every Republican nomination mistake is always in the same direction: Souter, Anthony Kennedy, John Roberts, Kavanaugh, Amy C Barrett… Never do they mistakenly nominate someone too conservative/libertarian, do they?

And then there is the flaw that they are entirely unaccountable (except for what the CIA-Mossad has on them). Unaccountable people tend to behave badly over time. I present the history of the Supreme Ct. gradually ruling most of the Constitution unconstitutional as evidence.

  2. If the SCOTUS rules they way you foresee, TC, it will be against the constitution and open the door to a flood of the so called ” tourist births ” . And give the Democrats what they want….more voters .

    1. That’s absolutely right, Fred. I can only hope the four quirky Republican-appointed justices have time to cogitate, digest the arguments, read the briefs, argue back and forth and ultimately come to the right conclusion. That is still possible, I suppose.
