It was very interesting there was an article in the News and Record that highlighted an “activist” advocating that the city of Greensboro hire Assistant Chief Stephanie Mardis, a black female, to be the new police chief. Then there was an article covering a protest attended by 80 people advocating that she be hired.
My initial snap judgment was that I smelled a stink. But then that became more clear when Deena Hayes-Greene was reported to be among those advocating for Mardis.
It is just so brazen. On the one hand, they complain about killings in the black community. On the other hand, they complain about “over policing” in black neighborhoods.
Some things never change.
Addendum: The city hires a Pakistani to be police chief. He most recently served in Dayton, OH. There has been considerable cross-pollination between Dayton and Greensboro over the years.
Yup ! The socialists pretty much dominate Greensboro political affairs. 80 person protest in favor of hiring Mardis. Wow, how big of a deal was this. NOT !!!!
Fred, this is wildly inappropriate for these people to advocate and pressure in this manner. The question is what the City Council will do.
But some things never change in the Politically Virtuous City.
