Stokes County Data Center Rezoning Approved

Recall that data centers require high amounts of electricity to operate. The facility will be in close proximity to Duke Energy’s Belews Creek generating station, where the introduction of nuclear power is being planned.

Without increased generating capacity, increased demand for electricity tends to raise prices.

    1. It was interesting, Fred, that at least one of the commissioners said he voted in favor because the county government needed more revenue. I’m not sure how I would feel about that justification if I lived in Stokes County, where property taxes are low. I suppose it might help KEEP their taxes low.
