It is very encouraging to hear these words from someone so close to the president:
Stephen Miller touts the Immigration Act of 1924 as a model for how America can deal with immigration.

The law set quotas on different countries to ensure America retained its ethnic proportions and homogeneity.

Every sovereign country has the absolute right to determine who enters through its borders.
U.S. administrations in the past century have often varied the limit up or down to meet economic and social conditions.
This is nothing new.
I agree, JayCee. The idea of an absolute moratorium, however, is likely to set off a political firestorm if pursued. The large corporate entities, the left and their partners in the media will rebel against the policy. It still is very much needed, and I hope it is pursued.
It ( US immigration law/policy ) is broken and needs a permanent fix. Miller is brilliant and I am glad he is one of President Trumps closest advisors.
I am also, Fred. I hope his influence carries the day on this question.
