Indeed, Food Stamp Fraud has been going on for a long time.
Oh how well, do I remember Senator Jesse Helms dueling over food stamps.
Helms was a vocal opponent of the Food Stamp Program. He had already voted to reduce its scope, and was determined to follow this through as Agriculture Committee chairman. At one point, he proposed a 40% cut in their funding. Instead, Helms supported the replacement of food stamps with workfare.
It is encouraging Secretary Rollns is going to really, really , this time, crack down on EBT fraud.
Those that followed Helms, Fred, have been pale imitations. In fact, they ran away from his legacy. I wish we still had him, in retrospect.
