Vice President Vance is correct that illegal immigration drives up the demand for housing, and thereby the cost:

What Republicans are NOT willing to discuss, as a general rule, is how LEGAL immigration and visa holders also drive up the cost of housing; and how rampant, widespread corporate purchases of single homes during recent years drives up the purchase prices of homes. A recent report highlights the impact legal immigration has had on housing costs.
Those phenomena also need to be addressed as contributors to higher rent expenses and higher prices to buy homes. But Vance is right– the illegal immigrants are part of the mix driving up the costs of housing.
