Southeastern Seminary Applying DEI To Scholarships

We learn from Pastor Tom Buck that Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, located here in North Carolina, is extending scholarships to certain perceived victim groups– blacks, women, Asians, Hispanics, American Indian, first generation immigrants, internationals, etc. The school is calling it the Revelation 7:9 Initiative.

This is highly inappropriate. There are many white males within the Southern Baptist universe who come from disadvantaged backgrounds for various reasons; and who ought to be able to compete for scholarships on a level playing field. This is a DEI/ diversity/ multiculturalism initiative masked as something else.

Cooperative Program dollars– arising from offerings and tithes at local churches– fund this idiocy. The Convention has been pushing black pastors in various ways– and then we learned that the black churches in the Convention are using female pastors, and that is the reason we can’t take action against churches with female pastors:
