Most folks don’t understand that medical practices that use electronic health records likely upload their records to the North Carolina state government’s Health Information Electronic Exchange; and then their records can be accessed by multiple federal agencies.
Below you will find a video of a talk given by Dr. Craig Wax ten years ago on the topic of electronic health records. He exposes the many ways these records can be used to control the delivery of medical care; and otherwise create mischief and disorder in the health care environment. He illustrates how this is very bad for patients:
That was disturbing.
Approximately 88% of U.S. office-based physicians were using any EHR system in 2021, with around 78% using a certified EHR. Broader estimates place general EHR usage among physicians at around 85%.
So isn’t the game over ?
Yes, Fred, pretty much. The corporate practices all use EHR’s. Some small physician practices do not (like mine) although we are a tiny minority.
The grandular texture of medical-industrial complex fascism. The marriage of corporate and govt interests to the detriment of the individual and independent thought.
That’s a great way of describing it, J. Sobran. Every patient ought to be suspicious of electronic health records and the reasons their provider adopted their use.
