The woke hospital systems’ inclinations are to veer to the extreme left. However, they are now earning the aspersions of LGBTQ advocacy groups because they have limited the provision of “gender-affirming care” in response to Trump’s recent executive actions and newly enacted state law.
Let there be no misunderstanding. These hospital systems will do whatever they must to retain access to the flow of federal Medicare dollars. If they must repudiate some of their woke positions, and anger the LGBTQ crowd, they will do so.
The Medicare dollars pay the hospital system executives’ salaries and bonuses and benefits. The gender-affirming treatments do not nearly as much; and these are therefore expendable. It is a simple matter of arithmetic.
So, if it must be, then this is not a bad thing.
