Here is a bit of a shocker. North Carolina ranks #44 among the 50 states when assessed and rated on the basis of religious liberty issues. That is according to First Liberty Institute that compiled the ratings.
It appears our state legislators have some work to do.
I think that the First Liberty Institute shorted NC in many categories. Illinois is a solid Blue state and NC red. There is no way in reality that Ill. is freer than NC in religious liberty.
I had noticed that also, Fred. I think it depends on the criteria they use to assess how much religious liberty we have.
But think about it. We were probably shut down during Covid– and prevented from going to church– as badly as many of the blue states.
