LGBTQ Materials In Guilford/ Summerfield Schools, Part 2

A few weeks ago, we highlighted the efforts of the group Moms for Liberty opposing LGBTQ-promoting materials that were being used in Guilford County Schools.

It turns out this issue came to a head this week.

A biased article in the News and Record makes it appear that a huge group of parents from Summerfield descended upon a school board meeting to oppose an LGBTQ book being removed from Summerfield Elementary.

In fact, the local LGBTQ community is highly organized; and there is no way to know where all those people live who attended the meeting. We don’t know how many might live in Summerfield. An organized effort to get people to attend would attract those from throughout the metro area.

The pastor of a very liberal Baptist church in Greensboro serves on the school board. He verbalized support for the book that highlights a family led by same-sex parents. A gay married Summerfield man who had adopted a child spoke against removing the book also.

Overall, a crescendo of evil arose against the school system removing the book. The school board is heavily democratic socialist, although a vote apparently was not taken during the meeting.

Overall, more Greensboro mess was encroaching on Summerfield. It is part of a pattern.

  1. Parents are right to oppose the book but it looks like the cards are stacked against them. The N&R article, as you say, was biased to the gills.
