The failed Jewish school at the intersection of Hobbs Rd. and Jefferson Rd. was never used for “migrants”. Large amounts of money passed from the federal government to various parties, and employees were hired, but the use of the facility for illegal immigrant children never materialized.
A couple of snippets from this North State Journal article arouse interest.
First, the facility was used for Hurricane Helene relief operations from October through February. However, it was reported elsewhere that folks from the mountains did not want to stay at a relief facility in Greensboro. The article does not specify how many folks actually stayed there.
Second, the article specifies that $241 million were spent by the Biden administration on “leasing, repairs, security and general upkeep“ for a facility that was never used for its intended purpose.
Of course, this is criminal. There needs to be an investigation to see what relationships led to the various parties to this transaction getting paid as they were– and what dynamics led to the plan not coming to fruition. Huge amounts of taxpayer monies were wasted; and certain parties were lavished with all these monies to no avail. There needs to be accountability.
Recall that it is doubtful this project would have ever been initiated without megadonor/ former Congresswoman Kathy Manning presenting the facility as an option to the Biden Administration.
Government has more in common with organized crime than it does differences.

Somehow, J. Sobran, I doubt we will ever know the full story with this debacle. But it is pretty clear some parties made out like bandits– or like mobsters, as you say.
