That is the question I had after seeing this video:

How much taxpayer $$$ circuitously found it’s way into the pockets of local politicians and will they have to give it back??
Inquiring minds want to know…
Jaycee, I don’t think there is a journalist in town who is interested in pursuing that particular question.
Thanks for sharing this and thank goodness for DOGE! Hoping Yost is on the case!
At this point, TCfan, he is all we have in terms of “traditional” journalism in this region. Pretty sobering.
What about the FBI. What else do they have to do ? Surely there is an obscure law in the federal books that could be used to at least give this a glance.
Of course, Fred. There is a lot to do, and many bad actors to prosecute. I hope there is progress. I also hope the replacement of Gaetz with Bondi does not turn out to be a fatal error.
An NGO. A “non-governmental organization” receiving millions of taxpayer dollars for nothing. There’s a lie right there in the ‘non-governmental’ characterization.
Healey, I think more and more people are becoming aware of the fact that we have many scams taking place designed to reward politicians and their supporters; and to create the appearance of fixing a progressive agenda item.
A politician invents a problem/crisis.
A friend or relative or associate creates an NGO to “solve” the problem.
The politician publicly supports the NGO and funnels millions of taxpayer $$$ to it.
The politician magically becomes a millionaire despite only receiving a gov’t paycheck.
Surely this never happens, right??
Jaycee, there are many multi-multi millionaires among the career politicians in Congress. I guess that answers your question unless there are other ways they get money dishonestly.
Probably nobody reading this as it’s gone to Page 2, but here is a great example of what I talked about above:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/meet-sandra-whitehouse-whose-husbands-votes-funneled-millions-ngo-pays-her
“Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., has emerged into the spotlight amid a new ethics complaint due to his voting in favor of laws that ultimately funded millions in grants to a nonprofit climate group that pays his wife’s consulting firm.”
JayCee, the husband/wife thing in D.C. is a topic that could be explored in much greater detail, and I have no doubt what we would find.
