Early Voting Begins In Guilford County

There are many things on the ballot this year.

Here in Greensboro, there are five bond issues. I would vote AGAINST these especially in view of the fact that Greensboro has gotten into trouble with the state because of maintaining inadequate financial reserves.

There are three constitutional amendments on the ballot dealing with taxation and voter ID. I would vote FOR all three constitutional amendments.

There are state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals races on the ballot this year. I would vote for the Republican nominee for all of these races– Sarah Stevens, Michael Byrne, George Bell and Craig Collins

I would vote for John Blust and Alan Branson for the NC House if you live in their respective districts; and Sam Page for NC Senate if you live in his district.

Two Republican nominees are running for school board– Cissy Pratt and Maritza Gomez. I would vote for these if you are able.

There are a few county commissioners races of interest.

An at-large race pits property tax crusader Mike Perdue against the black pastor, Greg Drumwright. He is pastor at Citadel Church. Here is a description of Drumwright’s background in the Greensboro Thread:

Drumwright is senior minister of The Citadel Church, which he founded more than two decades ago. He has faced questions about his own financial record, which includes a long history of evictions and lawsuits over unpaid debts. In 2020, Drumwright purchased a home in Starmount Forest, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Greensboro, which is now valued at more than $1 million. He has declined to answer questions about his personal finances, saying they have no bearing on his campaign.

That is pretty interesting. A black Democratic pastor with a million dollar home in Starmount Forest. His church website features “justice sermons”. Mike Perdue is the clear choice in this race.

I would support the Republican incumbents Pat Tillman and Alan Perdue in their respective county commissioners’ races. It should be noted that there are a couple of “Perdue’s” running for the county commissioners’ board this year.

Michael Whatley is the better choice in the US Senate race. The US House seats in our region are mostly non-competitive.
