  1. I think Obama consciously intended for Obamacare to fail and thereby make people beg for fully socialized medicine. For it to be a steppingstone to what he really wanted.

But I think that in collectivizing/rendering the medical complex yet more fascistic (more corporatist for those with tender ears), Obama has inadvertently rendered it into a very strong structure, with corrupt and perverse incentives that will make it very hard to reform in any direction at all. Including full socialism or direct government takeover.

A pertinent analogy: There is pretty good evidence (the unpublished Henry Ford study the best) that fully vaccinated children are much less healthy than fully unvaccinated–especially with chronic diseases, allergies, ADHD, & autism. But I defy anyone to change Big Pharma’s cash cow. RFK will not make a dent in that beast. No one will in our lifetime.

Another element of govt as organized crime.

    1. Unfortunately true, J. Sobran.

At this point, the only way I see the system changing would be when we somehow have a major crisis. That would potentially be used by the socialists to justify a direct government takeover or “Medicare For All”. And of course, the Republicans will surrender and betray.

      1. Republicans routinely surrender and betray. But I’m averring that the many beneficiaries of the present corrupt system are so enriched by it, that they will easily gum up efforts to alter it with money to both parties. United Healthcare, Humana, et al are married to the govt presently; it will be very hard to dislodge them from their privileges. They can hire a thousand Donnie Lambeths.

        1. Again, that’s true, J. Sobran. The only thing I might dispute about your previous comment is that you said it “inadvertently” pushed us into this kind of fascistic/ corporatist system. I think that was the design and the intent. The insurance companies and the hospital systems were the big beneficiaries– and they pushed hard, both to pass it and then to keep it in place. The folks in Washington were exceedingly aware of this.

          1. I mean inadvertently in the sense that they knew they had to buy off the insurance companies to get to Obamacare as the step towards full government take over, but they didn’t mean to strengthen all the parties like United Healthcare in their vested interests in the corporatist status quo. I may be wrong, but I suspect full socialist “reform” might be as politically difficult to achieve as the right solution of free market medicine.

          2. I hope that’s true that full socialist reform might be tough for them to pull off, J. Sobran. United Healthcare and its leadership were very active in “bundling” campaign contributions for Obama. Perhaps Obama and the insurance companies were buying EACH OTHER off.
