Delicious State Requirement Imposed On Our County Commissioners

Many local residents are familiar with the fact that the socialists on the Guilford Board of County Commissioners love to fund their favored non-profits; and the funding is often intended to alleviate perceived inequities based on race or gender. It is a spoils system of sorts.

The Rhino Times reports that the Republican majority in the NC General Assembly has imposed new requirements. The county commissioners now have to jump through various hoops to demonstrate they are not funding non-profits based on race or gender.

Isn’t that the cat’s meow?

  1. 3 cheers for the Republicans in the Gen. Assembly. County commissioners should not be handing out taxpayer money to private “nonprofit” organizations in the first place.

“It is a spoils system of sorts.” Exactly so, Triad. Not to mention the commissioners effectively buying votes and support from these concentrated interests.

Property taxes are painful. They are supposed to be for police and schools and roads. Have they got those things covered so well that they think they have a right to spew money taken (property taxes are taken via threat of force) from us around to whatever they think is a good cause. It is corrupt.

    1. I agree, J. Sobran. Your comments are right on target.

In Guilford County, we had a respite for nearly a decade from these socialists– from around 2010 until 2020. But prior to that period, and since then, it has been a mess. I don’t know precisely how Forsyth County compares. But I know Alamance, Rockingham, Davidson and Randolph counties all improve significantly upon the garbage we have in Guilford.
